13 E-Commerce Marketing Blogs You Should Be Paying Attention To

E-commerce marketing is a beast. And it’s always changing, always evolving.

There’s so much to learn and do and conquer that it almost becomes overwhelming as a store owner.

Today we wanted to point out some of the resources we’ve enjoyed over the years and some new ones we’ve discovered as well.

They’re the blog that you, the web store owner, should be paying attention to when it comes to learning about marketing your e-commerce site.

Seems the official WooCommerce blog has recently had some new life breathed into it by it’s main contributor Nicole Kohler. We’ve seen quite a few really insightful and useful posts coming out of it in the last few months so it definitely is worth paying attention to as they continue to pump out useful posts.

#2 – Internet Retailer

Useful for keeping up with news in the ecommerce retailing industry, but also has a pretty decent section dedicated to teaching e-retailers the ins and outs of retailing online.

A good mix of industry news, guides for businesses and information about emerging technology. A worthwhile look and updated regularly.

Not strictly about e-commerce exactly, but covers many many things that e-commerce store owners need to know from the all important angle of “conversion”. A worthy read and best in it’s niche, one of my favourites.

#5 – Volusion’s Ecommerce Insights

Updated nearly everyday it’s one of the better solution provider’s blogs. All about making your e-commerce store better covering a wide range of topics like design, conversion, analytics and more.

#6 – Get Elastic

One of the older e-commerce blogs by solution provider Elastic Path – they cover things like tips and tricks, news and industry opinion pieces. Not so much of the how-to stuff anymore, but it’s still a good read to keep up to date.

A great blog for reading about the technology powering modern e-commerce – loads of how to choose type guides for everything related to e-retailing. Their pièce de résistance is a hugely detailed guide comparing all the different shopping cart software packages.

Highly practical podcast & how-to blog on various topics of interest to ecommerce site owners. Definitely worth a read/listen. Some nice interviews too!

Another really practical website from a guy thats actually been there and done it (and is still doing it). Shabbir’s Boostrapping Ecommerce blog is every DIY e-commerce store owner’s dream resource.

As the name suggests, another great practical how to resource that you should follow. Everything from tool roundups to guides on using those tools, and best of all its updated near daily so you can get your how-to guide fix whenever you like.

Not strictly only about ecommerce but a good resource for learning about the things that matter to ecommerce store such as user behaviour, marketing strategies and testing ideas. A great regular read with long useful guides.

Updated a few times a month this is a nice occasional read that covers topics more in-depth that are related to actually running an ecommerce site. High quality content.

Another site that is updated just a few times per month but covers some really great current topics as well as timeless guides on how to launch, product testing, case studies and more.
