How To Add WooCommerce Cart Discounts For Wholesale

Add WooCommerce Cart Discounts For Wholesale

Wholesale customers already get bulk discounts due to the size of their orders. However, there are a lot of other ways that you can reward your top buyers for their patronage. You can, for example, set up WooCommerce cart discounts to encourage your biggest customers to make even larger purchases.

If you’re using the Wholesale Prices Premium plugin, then you already have access to WooCommerce cart discounts. In this article, we’ll talk about when it makes sense to use them and how to configure discounts for your top wholesale customers. Let’s get to it!

Why You Should Offer WooCommerce Cart Discounts For Wholesale Customers

Wholesale customers already get a better deal on prices than retail users do. However, those lower prices aren’t precisely a gift. Wholesale customers pay less for each item because they buy in bulk. That means you make up for those lower prices by moving more products.

However, in some cases, you might want to offer wholesale customers an additional incentive to make purchases. Giving your best customers an additional discount if they make a purchase over X amount can be the perfect way to do that.

If you use the Wholesale Suite, you know that Wholesale Prices Premium already enables you to offer discounts for specific wholesale customer roles and for users that purchased over X products. Now the plugin also includes a feature that lets you offer cart subtotal-based discounts.

That means you can configure discounts that trigger when wholesale customers want to make a purchase over X amount. Moreover, Wholesale Prices Premium also lets you configure specific discounts for each wholesale customer role. Let’s go over how that feature works.

How To Add WooCommerce Cart Discounts For Wholesale Customers

Adding subtotal-based discounts to wholesale customer carts is simple. However, you’ll need to use the Wholesale Prices Premium plugin to access this feature. Below, let’s explore how you can do this in three easy steps:

Once you activate the plugin, go to your dashboard and navigate to WooCommerce > Settings > Wholesale Prices > Discount. Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see a section that says Cart Subtotal Price Discounts. Here is where you’ll configure your WooCommerce Cart Discounts:

Step 2: Set a subtotal requirement and wholesale roles that can avail of the discount

Next, you’ll have to select what wholesale role the discount will apply to. Open the Wholesale Role list and select the user role you want to configure. Afterward, set a subtotal price, which is the minimum cart value that customers will have to meet to get the discount:

Step 3: Set the discount type and amount

Move on to the Discount Type option and choose between a percentage-based or fixed discount. Usually, we recommend that you stick with fixed discounts as that gives you more control over how much value you can offer customers.

With percentage-based discounts, you can end up giving away massive amounts of product for free for customers that make very large purchases. However, the option is there if you want to use it. Now go ahead and set a discount amount:

Step 4: Name your discount and save your changes!

Finally, set a name for the discount under Discount Title. Users will see that name as a message when their cart subtotal meets the conditions that you set (and if they have the correct role).

If you look at the list below those forms, you’ll see an overview of all the WooCommerce cart discounts that you configure. As we mentioned before, you can set multiple discounts at different cart subtotal levels and for each wholesale customer role:

Before you save the changes to your wholesale store settings. Scroll up and look for the option that says Only Apply Discounts If Minimum Order Requirements Met:

If you don’t enable that option, the plugin won’t check if a specific wholesale user role meets the cart subtotal requirements that you set. In that case, every customer may get a discount, so it’s important that you don’t forget to tick the setting unless you want to run a global sale.

Once you configure your WooCommerce cart discounts, we recommend that you inform your customers about them to encourage sales. The easiest way to do so is by using your customer email list. However, you can also use a floating bar that tells visitors about the discounts that they can access.

Conclusion

WooCommerce cart discounts are a fantastic way to encourage wholesale customers to spend even more money on your store. If you’re having a weak sales month or you want to move more products, offering discounts to your best wholesale customers can be a great way to get additional sales.

Using Wholesale Prices Premium, you’ll be able to configure WooCommerce cart discounts for wholesale customers with carts over a specific subtotal. The plugin even lets you set up discounts for different minimum subtotal amounts and wholesale customer roles. Here’s how you can do it in four easy steps:

  1. Navigate to Wholesale Prices Premium Discount settings
  2. Set subtotal requirement and applicable wholesale roles
  3. Set discount type and rate
  4. Save your changes
