Permaculture Farming: Walden Farmacy’s Wholesale Growth

Permaculture farming is more than just growing plants; it’s a holistic approach to sustainable living. It is about building a healthy relationship with nature. Instead of forcing the land to do what people want, permaculture farming means listening to the land and learning how to grow with it. At Walden Farmacy, this idea is not just a choice; it’s a commitment. It is the heart of everything they do.

In this article, you will see how permaculture farming, combined with Wholesale Suite, helped Walden Farmacy connect with more customers, share their herbal medicines, and grow their wholesale business in a way that aligns with their values.

Growing With Permaculture Farming

Walden Farmacy is a family-owned and run small-scale permaculture-style herb farm located in Bessemer, Alabama. At Walden Farmacy, they grow and wildcraft small batch, sustainable herbal medicines with families in mind. They believe that each person can heal themselves, so they offer support, guidance, and herbal remedies to help individuals find balance in mind, body, and spirit.

How it all started…

Joanna and Trevor Mann lead the farm. Joanna began her healing journey after facing health challenges and discovering the benefits of herbs, yoga, and natural living. Trevor found his calling after learning about permaculture farming and herbalism. Together, they cultivate healthy herbs and care for the land.

At Walden Farmacy, giving back is a big part of their mission. They believe in helping their community, supporting the earth, and sharing with others. Every quarter, they donate at least 1% of their sales to different non-profit groups. They often give to local charities, and as holistic healers, they want to give back to causes that align with their values.

The farm employs permaculture farming techniques to cultivate strong and healthy plants. Some of the herbs they grow and use include elderberry, ginger, usnea, pine, local honey, echinacea, turkey tail mushroom, violet, elecampane, thyme, and licorice root.

By handpicking their herbs and carefully tending to the soil, Walden Farmacy ensures that their land continues to yield year after year. Every part of their process comes from a place of care and respect. Permaculture farming is not just a way to grow food for them. It is the reason they can offer natural medicines that families trust.

Moving To Wholesale

Walden Farmacy began as a small farm, producing herbal medicines for local families. As time went on, they wanted to share their herbs with more people, so in 2019, they decided to start selling wholesale.

Starting wholesale was not easy. When the Wholesale Suite team asked them, “Were you using any other plugins or manual systems? If yes, what were the limitations?” They answered:

Manual systems. Customer emailed an order and we’d invoice via Quickbooks.

Walden Farmacy initially did everything by hand. If a customer wanted to place an order with them, the customer would send an email with their order details. Walden Farmacy would then make an invoice in QuickBooks and send it back.

In the midst of it all, Walden Farmacy sought a way to simplify ordering for everyone. They wanted stores to be able to view all their products, check prices, and place orders with just a few clicks.

Using Wholesale Suite

Walden Farmacy wanted a system that would match the care and attention they use in their permaculture farming—a way to make business smooth and friendly for all.

When the team asked them, “What made you choose Wholesale Suite?” They promptly answered:

We wanted wholesalers to be able to look at all the products, see prices, and easily fill a cart and pay.

Wholesale Suite became their new way of managing wholesale sales. One of the most helpful things was being able to show all their products and prices in one place. Now, when a new customer wanted to buy from them, it was easy for customers to see what was available and fill a cart with just a few clicks.

Customers also provided positive feedback about the change. Some customers reported that ordering was much quicker and easier. When the team asked, “What feedback have you received? If someone else were considering Wholesale Suite, what would you tell them?” They answered:

Ordering is quicker and easier, and it [Wholesale Suite] streamlines the process and saves time.

Looking Ahead

Walden Farmacy is excited about what comes next for their wholesale business. One of their primary goals is to establish more connections with new wholesalers. Every time they meet someone interested in their products, they look forward to sharing their story and their herbs. With Wholesale Suite, Walden Farmacy can welcome new shops and partners with a simple order process for everyone involved.

1. Unlock bigger orders with tiered pricing

With Wholesale Suite, you can set up different prices for different order sizes. This means that customers who purchase more items receive a better deal. For example, if someone orders 10 items, they pay one price; however, if they order 50 items, they receive a larger discount. This system encourages buyers to purchase more at once, which helps your business sell in larger volumes and increase overall sales.

2. Make every order count with minimums

Setting a minimum order amount makes sure that every wholesale order is valuable for your business. Instead of spending time and resources on small orders, you can set a rule that requires buyers to order a minimum amount before they can proceed to checkout. This helps you focus on the orders that help your business, saves time, and makes shipping and handling more worthwhile.

3. Make shopping simple with easy order forms

Make order forms that are easy for customers to use. All your products are listed in one place, allowing buyers to see what’s available quickly, select their desired items, and check out in just a few clicks. There is no need to go back and forth with emails or phone calls. A clear, simple order form saves everyone time and creates a smooth experience that keeps buyers coming back.

💡Using tools like the Wholesale Order Form plugin from Wholesale Suite can help you implement these features easily. It offers a drag-and-drop form builder to arrange essential elements intuitively and supports search and filtering capabilities to enhance the ordering experience.

4. Reward loyal customers with special discounts

Give a little extra to those who support you most. Offer special deals to customers who frequently place orders or purchase in larger quantities. This makes loyal shops feel appreciated and encourages them to keep working with you.

5. Grow your network fast with quick sign-ups

Set up a special sign-up form for new wholesale customers. People can fill out their details online, and you can approve them quickly. This is perfect for growing your network, whether someone finds you through your website, at an event, or by word of mouth. The faster you can add new buyers, the quicker you can grow your wholesale business and reach new markets.

Conclusion

Walden Farmacy illustrates how adhering to one’s convictions and selecting the right tools can enable a small business to thrive. Their commitment to permaculture farming is more than just a way of growing plants; it is a promise to care for the earth, create real change, and offer families safe, natural medicines they can trust.
