Troubleshooting $0 abandoned cart totals in FunnelKit Automations

Running FunnelKit Automations alongside Wholesale Suite? If your wholesale customers appear with $0.00 totals in FunnelKit’s abandoned cart records while retail customer totals look correct, there is a known timing issue between WooCommerce and WooCommerce Wholesale Prices. This article explains the cause and how to resolve it.

Symptom

After a wholesale customer adds a product to the cart, FunnelKit Automations logs a $0.00 (or empty) total for that customer in its abandoned cart data. The correct wholesale price is shown on the cart and checkout pages, so the issue does not affect the actual purchase, only the data FunnelKit captures for abandoned cart automations.

Cause

WooCommerce fires an internal event the moment a product is added to the cart, before it runs the calculation step that sets each item’s price and line totals. Wholesale Suite applies wholesale prices during that calculation step, so when FunnelKit reads the cart data at the earlier moment, the line totals have not yet been populated and appear as zero.

This is a known interaction between WooCommerce’s add-to-cart timing and any third-party plugin that reads cart item line totals at that same moment.

Fix

Update WooCommerce Wholesale Prices to version 2.2.9 or later. From 2.2.9 the plugin recalculates cart totals for wholesale customers before any other listener, including FunnelKit, reads cart data on the add-to-cart event. No configuration change is needed.

Do not stop at 2.2.8. Version 2.2.8 carried an earlier version of this fix that dropped WooCommerce Composite Products components and WooCommerce Product Bundles child items from the cart for wholesale customers, and slowed bulk add-to-cart. That implementation was withdrawn and replaced in 2.2.9, so 2.2.9 is the first release where this is safe to rely on.

How to update

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Dashboard > Updates.
  2. Find WooCommerce Wholesale Prices in the plugin updates list.
  3. Check the box next to it and click Update Plugins.

Once the plugin is updated, new abandoned cart records for wholesale customers will show the correct wholesale price totals. Previously captured $0 records are historical data in FunnelKit’s table and will not be updated retroactively.

Frequently asked questions

Does this affect retail customers or guests?
No. The fix only applies the early recalculation for wholesale customers. Regular customers and guests are unaffected.

Is this issue limited to FunnelKit Automations?
No. The root cause affects any plugin that reads cart item line totals during the add-to-cart event, before WooCommerce has calculated them. FunnelKit Automations abandoned cart tracking is the case we have seen reported. The timing belongs to WooCommerce and the reading plugin, not to wholesale pricing, so we also passed a report to FunnelKit. Updating to WooCommerce Wholesale Prices 2.2.9 or later closes the gap on our side.

Will existing $0 records in FunnelKit be corrected?
No. The fix only applies to carts created after the plugin is updated. Existing abandoned cart records showing $0 are stored data and will not be retroactively updated.
